AMSTERDAM - Amsterdam’s sixth annual SoupFest will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13 from noon to 5 p.m. at restaurants and bars throughout the city.

The businesses will provide over 30 different soups to sample, including Herks Tavern (65 Bridge St.) serving Creamed Spinach and Gnocchi Soup and Guge's Dogs (47 Bridge St.) serving Zuppa Italian Soup and Spicy Chicken Riggie Soup.

According to Tourism, Marketing and Recreation Assistant Director Michele Pawlik, the festival will include food and drink specials among giveaways and live music.

“We encourage all city restaurants to participate by preparing a soup to taste and also providing entertainment or other specials to entice patrons to come to your establishment,” she said.

Soup samples at each location are $1 for a 3 ounce sample and participants can vote in person or online for their favorite afterwards. The votes online, however, only qualify after noon on the day of the event.

Pawlik said businesses will be awarded trophies for the Most Unique Soup in the City and for the Best soup in the City.

Similarly to a map, a soup guide will be given out at participating locations or online listing the soups, all entertainment and food specials available.

The SoupFest is sponsored by Kinowski Agency, Inc. Insurance and participating businesses frequently announced on the Tourism, Marketing and Recreation Facebook page.
