SCOTIA — Daniel Leach and Colby Brandow each scored twice as the Mayfield boys soccer team, coming off a Western Athletic Conference title and a Section II Class C final appearance in 2016, rolled to a 6-0 win over Mekeel Christian in its season opener Wednesday.
Alex Ringer added a goal and two assists for Mayfield, John Fancher also scored, Dylan Bumpus and Anthony Yuret had assists and Evan Lehr needed just one save to record the shutout.
Galway 3, Canajoharie 0
Jake Restivo, Carson Scribner and Brendan Shader all scored for the Golden Eagles in their win over Canajoharie.
Erik Matthews and Justin Matthews had an assist apiece for Galway, and goalkeeper Henry Flint made six saves.
Canajoharie goalie Mack Frank turned away eight shots.
OESJ 3, Northville 1
Mason Snell, Braden Frederick and Jack Brundage all scored for the Wolfpack in their season-opening win over Northville.
Trent Barker added an assist and Elias Sanchez made 11 saves for OESJ.
Curtis Arnold scored for Northville.

Galway 3, Canajoharie 0
Leah Vanderhorst had two goals and Maya Vanderhorst provided two assists in the Golden Eagles’ win.
Griffen Gannon added a goal and Izzy Mancini contributed an assist for Galway. Grace Montague recorded the shutout with 10 saves.
Canajoharie got 12 saves from Madison Koelbl and seven stops from Jocelyn Hammons.
Mayfield 1, Mekeel Christian 1 (OT)
Lindsey Hampton scored for Mayfield off an assistant from Jillian Botch in the 35th minute, but Mekeel goalkeeper Bekkah Dean kept the Lions in the game before a successful penalty kick earned the draw.
Mikayla VanSlyke converted the penalty kick for Mekeel, while Dean came up with 20 saves to stop Mayfield from pulling away.
South Glens Falls 172, Amsterdam 191
Ryan Mahardy’s 39 led all scorers and paced South Glens Falls past Amsterdam.
Ryan Welch carded a 42 to lead Amsterdam.
Broadalbin-Perth 187, Queensbury 196
Dom Zippiere took medalist honors with a 44 to lead B-P to its fifth consecutive win.
Matt Danise added a 46, Mike Piska shot 48 and Stuart Bond shot 49 for the Patriots (5-0, 3-0 Foothills).
Alec Chase led Queensbury with a 47.
Johnstown 3, Mayfield 2
Janay Douglas had 12 kills and seven aces to help the Lady Bills edge Mayfield by scores of 25-17, 25-11, 23-25, 16-25 and 25-16 in the season opener for both teams Tuesday.
Mackenize Ward added 29 assists, four aces, two kills and a block for Johnstown, while Alexys Hutchins had seven aces, eight kills and a block. Amber Tesi contributed three blocks and two kills.
Mikayla Myers had a team-high 10 kills and 11 service points to go along with nine digs for Mayfield. Sam Kent added five kills and three aces for the Lady Panthers, Taylor Proctor compiled 16 digs and five kills, Emily Mormando contributed 15 assists and Katie LaGrange chipped in two blocks and nine digs.
