CAPITAL REGION — Millions of people across the continent witnessed the a brief period of darkness Monday afternoon as the moon past in front of the sun. While the Capital Region was not in the solar eclipse's path of totality, many got outside to glimpse moments of more than 95% blockage of the sun locally.

Photos from our staff on the scene throughout the region, including Peter R. Barber, Miles Reed, Ted Remsnyder, Ashley Onyon and Stan Hudy.
