Cage The Elephant

Cage The Elephant will be coming to Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Aug. 18.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Cage The Elephant will perform on the Broadview Stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center this summer, along with special guests Young the Giant and Bakar.

Tickets for the Aug. 18 show will go on sale next Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

The Neon Pill Tour will showcase the rock band’s new album of the same name, which comes out May 17 through RCA Records. The group's 45-date North American summer tour kicks off June 20.

The Grammy-winning band has become well known for hits such as “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked” and “Cigarette Daydreams.” The group announced its forthcoming sixth studio album and upcoming tour Thursday.

“To me, 'Neon Pill' is the first record where we were consistently uninfluenced, and I mean that in a positive way,” lead singer Matthew Shultz said in a statement. “Everything is undoubtedly expressed through having settled into finding our own voice. We’ve always drawn inspiration from artists we love, and at times we’ve even emulated some of them to a certain degree.

Cage The Elephant has earned dozens of gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications since forming in 2006. Its music has more than five-billion streams, and the group also has 10 No. 1 records on Alternative Radio and five No. 1 records on Triple A Radio.

“With this album, having gone through so much, life had almost forced us into becoming more and more comfortable with ourselves,” Shultz said in a statement. “We weren’t reaching for much outside of the pure experience of self expression, and simultaneously not necessarily settling either. We just found a uniqueness in simply existing.”

In addition to a stop at SPAC, the group will also have nearby performances in Mansfield, Massachusetts on Aug. 22, at Madison Square Garden on on Sept. 5, and in Lewiston, New York on Sept. 7.
