Sylvia Annette Klausen Sylvia Annette (Gardner) Klausen died on April 23, 2024, at her home of natural causes. She was 85 years old.

Sylvia was born on March 30, 1939, in Nashua, New Hampshire to Clayton and Helen (Behring) Gardner, the third of five children. She lived in New York State for the majority of her life. Her family lived on farms as a child and she frequently reminisced about those times.

She spent her retirement gardening, experimenting with cooking new, unique dishes or putting together a huge dinner for the family on holidays, and doting over her grandchildren. She loved her magenta-colored house and labored on it to make it as spectacular as possible.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, sisters Gloria and Donna, brother Richard, her husband of 34 years, Bret Klausen, and her step-son, John.

She is survived by her sister, Jeanne, daughter Sylvia McCullers and husband Randy of Johnstown, son Richard Pettit and wife Mary of Johnstown, step-son, Michael and partner Aleks Stojanovic of Ravena; step-daughters Karen Williams and companion, Matt Darbin of Edinburg, Eileen Spannbauer and husband David of Meco, Laura Klausen of Johnstown, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
