FONDA -- An Amsterdam man was formally charged this morning in connection to a double homicide that happened in March on Locust Avenue in Amsterdam.
Ivan Ramos, 30, of 50 Milton Ave., was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on two counts of first-degree murder and weapons charges in connection with the March 2 stabbing deaths of William McDermott and Cheryl Goss.
The two were found stabbed to death in a Locust Avenue apartment rented by McDermott. Authorities believe the killings may have been related to drugs.
Ramos was sentenced to three years in state prison in July after pleading guilty to third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He has been serving his sentence in the Elmira Correctional Facility in southwestern New York.
