Kathy Chittenden of Gloversville gets caught after a bite of the raspberry honey hot barbeque wing entry from Lyon Street Bar and Grill, in Saturday's 5th annual WingFest in Amsterdam, Saturday, April 20, 2024.

They came, the tasted, they wiped their mouths, they licked their fingers of wing sauce tasted more and then they voted.

Shorty's Southside was crowned as the Best Wing in the City as part of the 5th annual WingFest in Amsterdam. The latest eatery on the South Side of Amsterdam claimed the title with its C&J wing entry.

Named after Shorty's Southside co-owners, Chris and Jaime Giglio of Amsterdam, the wing had a mild sauce coating then topped with garlic and parmesan.

In a hotly contested race, Lyon Street Bar & Grill earned the title of Hottest Wing in the City with its Ferocity 2.0 entry.

Lyon Street was denied the title of hottest wing in last year's competition and this year owner Dan Nelli searched throughout the world to find the right combination of spices.

During the 5th annual WingFest in Amsterdam, our reporter Stan Hudy asked some burning chicken wing questions: Flats or Drums? Blue Cheese or Ranch? Mild, Medium, Hot? And what is up with garlic parmesan wings?
