F-MCC soccer splits weekend pair

The Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s soccer team split a pair of games over the weekend, falling 6-0 Saturday against Herkimer and notching a 3-1 victory Sunday at home against Clinton Community College.

Saturday against the Generals, F-MCC held strong until late in the first half, when Herkimer’s Luke Murphy scored three times in quick succession to put his team up 3-0. Herkimer pulled away in the second half for the convincing win.

Sunday, former Mayfield High School standout Jack Albertin scored all three goals for the Raiders (2-2) in their win over Clinton. Aiden VanLoan assisted on one of Albertin’s three goals.

F-MCC volleyball goes 1-2 in pod play

BUFFALO — The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women’s volleyball team went 1-2 over its first pod play session of the season Saturday, falling in five sets to Erie Community College and in three sets to Jamestown before wrapping the day up with a three-set sweep of Niagara Community College.

Gabby Smith led the Lady Raiders on the day, totaling 85 assists over the three matches. Bri Eagan finished with 39 kills, Megan Ryder had 50 digs and Brianna Port posted a team-best eight blocks.
