CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON — Austin Valliere scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Joe Werner added 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Ichabod Crane boys basketball team in a 67-45 win over Mayfield Monday afternoon in the championship game of the Holiday Hoopfest at Maple Hill High School.
Bradd Kittle scored 13 points, while Matt Ragosa and Peter Volkmann chipped in eight points apiece for Ichabod Crane in the victory.
Mayfield (6-3) got a team-high 14 points from Garrett Delaney, with Brendan Gifford and Jared Albertin contributing nine points apiece for the Panthers. Gifford also had eight assists and five rebounds.
Trevon Gifford added seven points, seven rebounds and three blocks for Mayfield.
“Obviously not the way we wanted to end the tourney, but Ichabod Crane played exceptionally well on both ends of the court from the tip,” Mayfield coach Harley Fuller said. “They shot it well against our zone and did a great job getting the ball inside against our man(-to-man defense).”
Werner was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player, with Delaney earning all-tournament team honors for Mayfield.
