JOHNSTOWN — The Amsterdam girls soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak and avenged a loss from earlier in the season, picking up a 2-1 win over Johnstown in Foothills Council action Thursday night behind two goals from Lucia Liverio.
Liverio, a senior, found the net on both a direct kick and a penalty kick to send Amsterdam to victory.
With the win, the Lady Rams improved to 7-6 overall and 5-5 in Foothills Council play with three regular season games remaining.
Broadalbin-Perth 3, Johnstown 0
Jared Eipp scored 48 seconds into the match to set the tone, and the Broadalbin-Perth boys soccer team captured a win over Johnstown in the Patriots’ Senior Night game.
Devon Holz and Brady Goodemote added second-half goals for the Patriots. Hunter Monks had a pair of assists, with David Rasmussen and Jonathan Murphy also providing helpers.

Mekeel Christian 3,
Sydney Ekstein tallied 22 digs, 16 service points and 14 kills to lead Mekeel Christian to a win over Fonda-Fultonville.
Mekeel Christian (9-0, 9-1) won by scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18.
Jillian Wilder had 18 digs and three aces and Emilia Vardai-Davidson contributed with 15 service points, eight digs and five kills to lead F-F (3-6, 4-6). Allison Codi chipped in with seven kills.
Galway 3, Duanesburg 0
Galway clinched the Western Athletic Conference Mohawk Division with a win over Duanesburg.
Galway (8-1) won by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-21.
Lindsey Zawisa led the Eagles with 16 service points, 12 digs and 11 kills. Emma Smith chipped in with 16 digs, 14 service points and 12 kills and Carlee Hortsmann contributed with 13 kills, 12 service and seven kills.

Emily Miles and Emma Rizzo won two individual events each to help Fonda/Johnstown pick up the win.
Miles won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, and Rizzo notched wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. The two also combined with Abigail Rizzo and Sophia Frenyea to pick up a win in the meet-closing 400 free relay.
COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY
The Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 2017 SUNY Delhi Bronco Classic on Wednesday. The men’s team placed eighth in the 5K race.
Travis Geniti placed 24th out of 66 runners to lead F-MCC. Geniti clocked the distance in 20:32. Nick Ferra and Clare Newcomer followed with identical times of 21:24 and Jon Knack ended up finishing in 27:32.
On the women’s side, F-MCC’s Mackenzie Labate finished 17th with a time of 27:59 and Lyndsey Fiore ran the 5K with a time of 39:03.
