Free rides to the city pool

Catholic Charities of Fulton and Montgomery Counties is offering free bus transportation to the Amsterdam municipal pool starting Thursday. Daily scheduled pickup times are 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m., and the bus will return at 4:50 p.m. Pickup and drop-offs will take place at the Creative Connections Arts Center, 303 E. Main St., where you can also pick up your free ticket between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Church plans pierogi sale

St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 24 Pulaski St., Amsterdam, will sell pierogi -- potato with cheese, and cabbage -- from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, fresh or frozen, $8 a dozen.

Gloversville band presents concerts

GLOVERSVILLE -- The Gloversville Civic Band, under the direction of Tom Gerbino, will present three free concerts on Wednesdays -- July 23 and July 30, and Aug. 6 -- at 7:00 p.m. at Melchoir Park, Kingsboro Avenue. In case of rain, The Glove Performing Arts Center, 42 N. Main St. will be used.

Annual golf tournament slated

FORT JOHNSON -- The 11th annual Golf for a Cure Tournament, a fundraiser for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, will be held at Rolling Hills Aug. 22. The event will begin with a shotgun start at noon and play will consist of a four-person scramble.

Registration is $125 which includes greens fees and cart, golf gift, refreshment cart, lunch, prizes, buffet dinner, awards and gift bags.

Cost for dinner for non-golfers will be $35.

This tournament if the largest fundraiser Dr. Sheridan has for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
