City woman jailed following charge of grand larceny

Theresa A. Carter, 51, of Amsterdam has been charged with embezzling $50,000 from her former employer, according to a New York State Police report.

The arrest stems from an investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Fonda, which reportedly showed that Carter had taken the money from her employer at the time, Bartyzel Inc., over the course of several years. She faces one felony count of second-degree grand larceny.

The report shows Carter turned herself in to State Police Wednesday morning. She was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.

She is scheduled to appear in the town of Amsterdam court Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.
