Saturday, December 21, 2013 - Updated: 4:09 AM

NEW YORK -- Amsterdam High School graduate Gary Tuck was named the bullpen coach of the New York Yankees Friday.

Tuck, 59, was the bench coach for Yankees manager Joe Girardi with the Florida Marlins in 2006, then served as the bullpen coach for the Boston Red Sox from 2007 to 2012. Tuck previously worked for the Yankees as a catching instructor, bullpen coach, scout and minor league manager.

A graduate of Indiana University, Tuck played professionally in the Montreal Expos organization, then served as a college assistant coach at both Notre Dame and Arizona State before beginning his career coaching in the minor leagues, where he worked with the Yankees, Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians.

Tuck served as the Yankees' bullpen coach in 1990, and earned World Series rings as the team's catching instructor in 1998 and 1999. He won another World Series ring as a part of Boston's 2007 championship team and announced his retirement this past January before making the decision to rejoin Girardi and the Yankees.
