Gonzalez lifts Canajoharie past Galway

CANAJOHARIE -- Josh Gonzalez led five players in double figures with 14 points as the Canajoharie boys basketball team powered to a 70-27 win over Galway in Western Athletic Conference North Division action Friday.

Zach Ouderkirk added 12 points from the Cougars, who also got 10 points apiece from Zach Folts, Logan Sala and Morgan Chapman.

Dan Diaz scored 11 points and Mike Mattice tallied seven points to lead Galway in defeat.

King's Christian 59, Mayfield 45

Lucas VanNostrand had a team-high 13 points, but the Panthers dropped a non-league contest to King's Christian Collegiate of Ontario.

Todd Briggs chipped in eight points from Mayfield, which also got six points apiece from Josh Gallup and Jordan VanNostrand.

Saratoga Central Catholic 66, Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville 35

Evan Pescetti led three players in double figures with 19 points, and the Saints powered to a 23-point halftime lead in topping the Wolves.

Brian Hall and Keegan Murphy each chipped in 12 points for Spa Catholic.

Johnny Vicciarelli had 14 points -- including four 3-pointers -- and Dylan Klock had eight points to lead OESJ.

Foothills Council

Scotia-Glenville 92,

Broadalbin-Perth 54

Joe Cremo scored 31 points, as the Tartans cruised to a 38-point victory.

S-G led by 18 points after one quarter.

Andre Taylor had 17 points for B-P, Ryan Dingman had 14 and Preston Taylor added 10.

The Tartans had five players score in double figures.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Western Athletic Conference

Fort Plain 56, Northville 34

Abby Boyer, Haley Kilmartin and Bri Florian combined for 49 points as the Lady Hilltoppers cruised past Northville.

Boyer had a game-high 21 points to lead the way for Fort Plain, while Kilmartin added 16 points and Florian chipped in 12 points. The trio combined for 16 of the Lady Hilltoppers' 18 made field goals.

Lyndsey Wadsworth had 11 points and Mary Ryan added nine points for the Lady Falcons.

Foothills Council

Scotia-Glenville 49,

Broadalbin-Perth 15

Twelve points from Allison Casey and a swarming defensive effort led the Lady Tartans past B-P.

Nicole Conley and Katelyn Dwire added 10 points each for S-G (3-0, 2-0 Foothills), which held B-P to six points over the first three quarters.

Tatiana Ivery led the Lady Patriots (2-2, 1-2) with six points.

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 62, Cohoes 38

Julianna Taylor scored 17 points and Jeananna Warner and Emily Parslow scored 15 and 10 points, respectively to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a win over Cohoes in a game that was played on Thursday.

Monica Derby contributed to the F-F (2-2, 4-2) win with seven points.

Isabella Vanelli scored 16 points and Katie Monson had 10 points to lead Cohoes.

BOYS SWIMMING

Ballston Spa 95, Amsterdam 64

Amsterdam's Kristian Santos came within a point of his school diving record as the Rams fell to Ballston Spa.

Santos won the 1-meter springboard event with a score of 294.55, just 0.9 points off the school record of 295.45 he set a week earlier. Teammate Connor Liverio took second with a score of 239.55.

A.J. Mercado added a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle for Amsterdam, while the team of Mercado, Jonathan Blanchard, Mike Valenti and Reyers Brusoe was third in the 200-yard medley relay.

Clayon Bennice won the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events for Ballston Spa, which also got individual victories from George Stack, Sam Slocum, Zachary Lamb and James Bonga.
