AHS wrestlers top South Glens Falls

SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- Rob Santiago kicked things off with a first-period pin at 182 pounds, and the Amsterdam High School wrestling team collected seven forfeits to aid a 66-21 non-league win Thursday over South Glens Falls.

Romeo Jones (113 pounds), Brandon Lapi (138 pounds) and Dan Banewicz (152 pounds) also recorded pins for the Rams, who split the eight contested weight classes with South Glens Falls, getting all of their wins via pinfall.

Amsterdam's winning point total was rounded out by forfeits received by Ken Garcia, Joe Kelly, Jorge Rivera, Ian Alejandro, Nelson Quinones, Marcus Torres and James Marquez.

Peter DeMarco, Anthony Sgorrano and Matt Savile all notched pins for SGF, while Spencer Kilburn added a decision victory.

Amsterdam is off until Dec. 28, when the Rams will face a gauntlet of 10 matches in two days as part of the Mountain Duals at Dolgeville High School.

Skylar Girard knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and scored a game-high 17 points as the Lady Indians cruised past B-P.

Tori Agnew added 13 points for Glens Falls, which outscored B-P 19-5 in the first quarter and opened up a 43-19 lead through three quarters. Lauren Stamatel chipped in eight points and Meresa Mason scored seven to aid the Lady Indians' winning effort.

Kaitlin Wood buried four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 15 points for the Lady Patriots in defeat, while Katie Herba added 13 points.

BOWLING

Broadalbin-Perth 0

Ryan Bekkering's 244-670 effort paced S-G's sweep of the Patriots.

Chris Borden added a 653 triple and Ryan Karabin bowled a 647 series for the Tartans, who outpinned B-P 3,614-3,249.

B-P was led by a 218-631 performance from Jordan Holik and a 580 series from Chris Smith.

Spagnola bowls 300 at Imperial Lanes

Brandon Spagnola bowled a perfect 300 game in the Thursday Night Men's League to lead the evening's action at Imperial Lanes.

Dave Tollner came within one pin of perfection with a 299 game on his way to a 753 triple that stood as Thursday's best.
