Michael Weaver Jr.

Michael Weaver Jr., 41, of Carmichael St., Amsterdam, passed away Sunday December 15, 2013 at Albany Medical Center Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Born in Augsburg, Germany on March 31, 1972 a son of Michael Weaver Sr. and Gertruda Boesten Weaver. Michael was a lifelong resident of the Hagaman and Amsterdam, NY area. He was a 1990 graduate of Amsterdam High School.

Mike was employed for many years at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Johnstown as a fork-lift operator.

He was a Volunteer Fireman with the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department #218. He was a Fire Policeman and was the Chief of Fire Police for many years. He took pride in his involvement with the Hagaman Fire Department and loved all of his brothers and sisters there. Michael above all cherished the time spent with his family and many friends and enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting, camping and fishing. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and Chicago Bears fan and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving companion, Michelle Horning of Amsterdam; his father, Michael Weaver Sr. (Peggy Klingbiel) of Gloversville, NY and his mother, Gertruda Weaver of Watervliet, NY; his dear sister, Carmelia (Shane) Szemplinski of Watervliet, NY; paternal grandmother, Anna Weaver of Hagaman, NY. Maternal grandmother, Maria Boesten of Holland; two nephews, Rocco and Rhett Szemplinski and one niece Ruby Szemplinski; his special cousins, Amy Stearns and Randy Weaver. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00A.M. at the Betz , Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Rev. Cynthia Leonard presiding.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Albany Medical Center Children's Hospital, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Department.
