Madeline "Nadel" Gentile

Madeline "Nadel" Gentile, of Hollywood, FL and formerly of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Pembroke Memorial Hospital with family by her side.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 25, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Pauline and Alfred DiCaprio.

While living in Amsterdam she was a member of the former St. Michael the Archangel Church and where on April 28, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vincent Gentile, he passed away July 2, 2007.

She was also predeceased by her daughter Nancy Midas on June 16, 2008; brothers Peter, Nicholas and John DiCaprio; sisters Julia Martini and Jean D'Alessandro.

In 1964 Nadel and her husband relocated to Hollywood, FL where they spent many wonderful years together enjoying the Florida weather, family and friends especially from the North. She was a homemaker and her greatest joy was her dedication to her family from near and far. She enjoyed preparing Sunday pasta dinners for family and friends. Her door was always opened to share her hospitality. She enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casino.

She will be greatly missed and is survived by her son-in-law Patrick Midas, Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren Patrick (Tanya) Midas, Jr., Yulle, FL; Christine (Steve) Trotta, Davie, FL; Todd (Lena) Midas, Sherrills Ford, NC; five great-grandchildren; sisters Nancy Gentile, Mary Donato, Joanne Hall; brothers Alfred (Mary Doris) DiCaprio, Joseph (Jane) DiCaprio; sisters-in-law Elvera DiCaprio, Theresa DiCaprio. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

On December 15th a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint David Catholic Church, Davie, FL.

Interment will be at Hollywood Memorial Gardens.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John St. Amsterdam, NY on Saturday, December 15th at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to a charity of choice.
