Catholic Central overpowers Lady Rams

TROY -- Madison Purcell had a game-high 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds and nine steals to lead the Catholic Central girls basketball team past Amsterdam, 72-44, in Big 10 action Tuesday night.

Danni Epting added 15 points and Kelsey Moss chipped in 13 points for the Lady Crusaders (1-1, 1-0 Big 10), who used 11 3-pointers to pad their advantage.

Nina Fedullo scored 16 points for Amsterdam (1-2, 1-2), while Caitlin Gannon chipped in 11 points and Kaitlyn Devine scored seven points.

The Lady Rams return to action Friday night with a 7:30 p.m. home game against Troy.

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 55, Cobleskill-Richmondville 46

Emily Parslow led a balanced effort with a game-high 17 points as the Lady Braves picked up their first league win of the season.

Julianna Taylor and Monica Derby chipped in 10 points apiece for Fonda-Fultonville (3-1, 1-1 Colonial), which led by 18 after three quarters and cruised to victory. Miranda Nethaway added eight points for the Lady Braves.

Danielle Rappelyea scored 14 points and Kate Billington scored 13 to lead C-R (0-2, 0-2).

Western Athletic Conference

Galway 41, Mayfield 30

Lindsey Naughton scored 11 points, and the Lady Eagles pulled away down the stretch to top Mayfield.

Morgan Ritter and Erica Chase scored 10 points apiece for Galway, which also got six points from Felicia Snyder.

Alex Sheldon scored 11 points to lead Mayfield, while Julie Hampton scored eight points and both Cailey Meca and Kaylee Bumpus scored six points, but the Lady Panthers were just 9-of-21 from the free throw line.

Northville 59, O-E-SJ 31

Lyndsey Wadsworth poured in a game-high 21 points and Charlotte Kalkbrenner added 12 points to propel Northville to a win over Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville.

Rylie Smith scored 10 points to lead the Wolves.


Western Athletic Conference

O-E-SJ 60, Northville 50

Jonny Vicciarelli tallied 16 points to lead Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville to a win over Northville.


Foothills Council

Broadalbin-Perth 4. Johnstown 0

Jay Haddock rolled a 235-653 and Ben Empie added a 254-621 to lead Broadalbin-Perth to a win over Johnstown.

Broadalbin-Perth (25-3) outscored Johnstown 1,177-1,099.

Jimmy Marshall helped the winners with a 233-617.
