Howard E. Auspelmyer, 83, of Snooks Corners Road passed away Saturday morning at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born July 27, 1929 in Amsterdam, NY, the son of the late Benjamin and Carrie Heinkamp Auspelmyer. Howard attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Howard was employed as a service manager for Mohawk Ford in Amsterdam and later served as a mechanic for the Florida Implement Company, retiring a number of years ago. He was a former supervisor for the Town of Florida for eight years. He was a 45 year member and past Master of the Amsterdam Lodge #84 F & AM. Howard also served in the State Masonic Lodge and the Oriental Shrine of Troy, NY. He was a member of the Florida Reformed Church in Minaville and served as an elder, deacon and chairman of the consistory.

Howard loved the out of doors, especially camping, tinkering in his garage, where he always had a project going, his cats and spending time with his family.

On October 22, 1950, he married the former Christina Fish, who passed away November 27, 2008.

Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Wayne Auspelmyer of Amsterdam, Timothy Auspelmyer of Gloversville, four daughters Deborah (Curtis) Fordham of Luling, LA, Lorraine (Jeffery) Sargalis, Linda (James) Wilkinson both of Amsterdam, Regina (Roland) Shuffleburg of Ashburn, VA, a brother Wilfred (Rhea) Auspelmyer of the Town of Florida, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Howard was predeceased by a brother Benjamin and a sister Beverly.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012, afternoon at 1:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. Tim Alicki officiating. Burial will take place with military honors at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY. The Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Howard's memory to the Florida Reformed Church, 2655 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
