Gregory J. Yackowetsky Sr.

Mr. Gregory J. Yackowetsky, Sr., 62, Locust Avenue, Amsterdam, died peacefully on Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Mary's Healthcare with his family by his side. Born in Michigan on October 23, 1950 he was the son of the late Alex and Rose Coppa Yackowetsky.

Greg grew up in New York City. For over 30 years, he was employed for General Electric in Schenectady as a crane operator. He was a train and airplane enthusiast and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Marsha Bell Yackowetsky; two beloved sons, Gregory Jr. (Melanie Palemire) of Amsterdam and Stanley (Crystal Cardamone) of Canajoharie; one brother, Steven Yackowetsky Florida; special friends, Alicia and William Mason, Sr. of Amsterdam; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister Jeanie Yackowetsky.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Medwid officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
