Staff report

The Amsterdam Police Department is looking for a white man alleged to have robbed Kings Food and Fuel on Guy Park Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

No one was injured in the incident, said Det. Lt. Kurt Conroy, but the suspect made away with cash he swiped from the store register.

The suspect was described as 5'9 to 5'11 inches tall and of medium build with a clean shaven face, according to a news release.

He's reported to have a tattoo on his left forearm/wrist area, and was wearing a distinct black and gray hooded sweatshirt with what appeared to be a picture of the New York City skyline on the front, with the words "New York" in red lettering.

The employee working at the time advised responding officers that a male entered the store and demanded money, while implying he had a weapon. The suspect then reached into the cash register, and removed an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the store on foot. He was last seen in the area of Wall Street and guy Park Avenue.

The department is asking anyone with information to contact the police department at 842-1100, and ask to speak with a detective.
