Harold E. Kaufman

Harold E. Kaufman, 86, of Fonda passed away peacefully at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown on November 23, 2013.

He was born in Amsterdam, NY on February 9, 1927, the son of the late John and Mary Hoffman Kaufman.

Harold is a life-long resident of the area and a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

He is a Veteran of the United States Army and served in WWII.

He worked for the Cady Company for thirty years as a truck driver, during his last three years he worked as a dispatcher in the office until his retirement in 1988.

He was a member of the Kennyetto Lodge No. 599 F&AM for over 50 years and served as a Master in 1959. He was a DSA recipient. He was also a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam.

His loving family includes, wife Irene Smith Kaufman whom he wed on February 24, 1946, daughters, Dianne Brothers of Fonda and Carol L. Kaufman of New Milford, CT, along with a grandson, Patrick DaBiere of Amsterdam; a great granddaughter Gabriella DaBiere. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A graveside service of remembrance will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill in the spring, an announcement will be made at that time. Military Honors and a Masonic Service will also take place at that time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kennyetto 599 F&AM in care of the Funeral Home office.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, NY 12025.
