The Amsterdam Fire Department responded to a fire that occurred at a multi-family home at 294-296 Locus Ave., on Thursday afternoon.

According to Amsterdam’s Fire Chief Richard Liberti, the home owners of 294 Locus Ave. were present when the fire started in the rear of the house.

Three adults and nine children occupied the residence, no fatal injuries were accounted for.

The fire appeared to be under control shortly after the fire department arrived, but they were taking precautions to make sure it did not spread anywhere else in either residence.

Amsterdam detectives were not asked to go to the scene of the fire because it was not suspicious.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
