Amsterdam police are looking for a man connected with a purse snatching in the area of Jay and Church streets on Wednesday night.

Police responded to report of a robbery at 8:30 p.m. and the victim was still at the scene. She described the suspect as being between 5'11' and 6'2', and wearing blue jeans, and a gray sweatshirt with a plaid hood.

The victim told police that when she exited her vehicle, she saw a man walking on Jay Street heading toward her. She said he grabbed her purse from her arm and ran down Church Street.

Officers checked the area for the suspect and called in the K9 unit but attempts at tracking were unsuccessful.

The victim said her purse contained cash, credit cards, her driver's license and other personal items.

Det. Lt. Kurt Conroy said it's been a couple months since the last incident. They made an arrest during that time and reports of the criminal activity seemed to lessen.

This investigation is ongoing.
