FONDA -- Friday's Week 7 football game between the Fonda-Fultonville Braves and Catholic Central Crusaders is most likely going to be canceled, with F-F picking up a forfeit victory.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Catholic Central head coach Ray Gaston did not think his team was going to be able to field a team with 16 players, the minimum needed to compete in a game.

"It's looking that way," said Catholic Central head coach Ray Gaston, Tuesday afternoon. "It's a very strong possibility."

Earlier in the day, F-F athletic director Eric Wilson had written in a text message that the game had already been canceled. Gaston said he did not know if it had been made official yet, and a voicemail left for Catholic Central athletic director Christine Bailey was not immediately returned; classes were not in session Tuesday at Catholic Central.

Catholic Central did not have enough healthy players to play its Week 6 game against Hoosick Falls and had to forfeit that contest, as well

F-F football head coach Tom Carpenter could not immediately provide comment Tuesday afternoon because he was teaching a class when contacted. Gaston said, though, that he had spoken with Carpenter Monday night to let the Braves' head coach know his team was likely not going to be able to field a team Friday.

Gaston said that his club has several players dealing with injuries and a few with the flu.
