Sacandaga Sports Center, the area's newest facility dedicated to baseball and softball training and player development, will host its grand opening event on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The event will include facility tours, meet and greet with coaches, trainers and owners, refreshments & giveaways.
The new facility, located at 1024 Midline Road in Amsterdam, offers three tunnels for pitching and hitting. In addition, private and group lessons will be offered as well as indoor recreation league play. The coaching staff has experience at the high school and college level. Head baseball instructor Chris Gabriel is a former Division II college player and was trained by several former MLB players. The newest addition to the coaching staff is Rory Ogden, a Division I catcher for Holy Cross. They are both available for one-on-one and group instruction.
The facility is owned by Dale Hinderliter and Kevin Myers.
"As parents ourselves, we were getting tired of commuting 30-60 minutes to batting cages and local sporting facilities for instruction," Hinderliter said. "We wanted to offer local families in Fulton and Montgomery counties and beyond, a place to bring their athletes to practice the fundamentals of baseball and softball. We believe in preparation to enhance performance and we offer training to everyone from Little League to the college level."
The focus at the Sacandaga Sports Center is on developing and then building upon the fundamentals of the game, both the physical and mental. A one-on-one meeting to assess each player's strengths and weaknesses is scheduled with each participant in an effort to provide the most beneficial training program to reach specific goals.
Come and see what all the excitement is about at the Open House on Saturday October 26th at 1-4pm!
