Elaine Rathbun

Elaine Rathbun, age 58, of Gloversville, died Tuesday afternoon, October 9, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, with her boys at her side.

She was born July 26, 1954 in Ilion, NY, the daughter of Mary Snedecker Rathbun and the late Roger Rathbun. Elaine was a 1972 graduate of Mount Markham High School in West Winfield and later attended Fulton Montgomery Community College. She graduated from Bentley College, near Boston, with a bachelor's degree in business and accounting.

Elaine lived for many years in the Johnstown and Gloversville areas where she worked at the former Gloversville Continental Mills and was a cashier at the former P & C Food Market. Her last employment was as a clerk at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

She is survived by her two sons: Justin R. Yorks (Lisa) and Bryan J. Yorks, both of Gloversville and their father, Dale Yorks. Also surviving are: her mother, Mary Frances Rathbun Aesch (Alex) of Johnstown; three brothers: Leo Rathbun (Pam) of Newport News, VA, Kevin Rathbun (Kathy) of Hatfield, AR, and Mark Rathbun (Tina Pabis) of St. Johnsville; five stepbrothers and stepsisters: Bob Aesch, James Aesch (Megan), John Aesch (Gloria), Shirley Alkinburgh (Larry) and Eleanor Mills; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her faithful cat, Fuzzy, also survives. She was predeceased by a sister, Debbie Skretkowicz.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 11 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday with Chaplain David Pilliod officiating.

Interment will take place at Cedarville Cemetery, Cedarville.
