Ruth Elizabeth Fisher Frasier, 98, peacefully departed this life on October 6th 2013.

Ruth was born in Gloversville, New York on October 9th 1915. She was the youngest child of six children born to Ida Mae and Charles Fisher. The First World War was raging in Europe, Woodrow Wilson was President of the United States, The House of Representatives had rejected a proposal to give women the right to vote, The New York Yankees donned their pinstripes for the first time, Einstein published his Theory of Relativity, and amid this worldly din, Ruth was born prematurely at home. She was initially thought to be stillborn, and as the physician attended to her mother, Ruth was placed in a cigar box and set aside, but that tiny baby clearly had other plans.

In 1934, as Hitler and Mussolini were meeting in Vienna, Shirley Temple was appearing in her first movie, and Babe Ruth was hitting his 700th home run, Ruth married her childhood sweetheart Oswald C. Frasier (pre-deceased). Together, they raised their children, animals and crops on their family farm in Fultonville, New York. Ruth also worked for the Crescendoe and Fownes Leather Companies, and in her spare time enjoyed gardening and journaling. Ruth was devoted to the many animals she cared for throughout her life, most specifically her Pekingese dogs. She was a member of the Johnstown Baptist Church.

Ruth took great pride in her large extended family, which includes her children:

Son, Paul L. Frasier (husband of Sandra Frasier); daughter, Janice M. Frasier Blowers (wife of Willard G. Blowers); eight grandchildren:Randy Frasier, Kim Frasier, Ricky Frasier, Paula Frasier Bobilin, Penny Sue Frasier Walrath, Jason Frasier, Robin Blowers Piper, and Courtney M. Blowers (pre-deceased); her twenty-one great grandchildren: Andrea Frasier, Kristie Frasier Machado, Sara Frasier Hodgins, Ashley Shell Horning, Kyle Snell, Stacey Frasier, Jessica Frasier Korona, Jeremy Frasier, Calli Frasier, Matthew Bobilin, Dakota Walrath, Dylan Walrath, Madison Frasier, Wyatt Frasier, Zack Frasier, Olivia K. Blowers Piper, Alden C.F. Blowers Piper, Preston A. Blowers Piper, Jenny Yerina, Brett Yerina, and Justin Yerina; as well as her nine great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday October 9th 2013 at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday prior to the service from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment will be immediately following at the Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY. This date also marks her 98th birthday.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to The Well's House Nursing Home in Johnstown, NY and/or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Ruth lived her life with great curiosity, zest and energy. When asked to quiet down; she spoke louder. She had a thirst for being in the moment. We cannot change the cards we are dealt, only how we play the hand; and Ruth played well. Her family is grateful that she fought for her life on that very first day so many years ago. She was greatly loved, and we will remember her, and through that remembrance a part of her will always be with us.
