Ralph R. Marotta

Ralph R. Marotta, 92, of Waite Rd., passed away suddenly Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital in the company of his loving family.

Born in Amsterdam on March 14, 1921, the son of the late Anthony and Maria Angela St. John Marotta, he lived here his entire life. Ralph proudly served with the US Army in World War II in the Asiatic and Pacific Theater of Operations. He was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the Defense Service and Good Conduct medals and was discharged with the rank of Medical Technician. He returned and continued his service for another 30 years at the Naval Supply Depot in Scotia. He was an active member of the community with the DAV Chapter 100, Southside Veterans Asso., 27th Division Asso., Knights of Columbus Council 209, St. Mary's and Mount Carmel Seniors and Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC parish. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Municipal Golf Course and looked forward each winter to spending time with his wife in Florida. Ralph was married to the former Dolores "Dora" DeFeo on May 8, 1949 and she passed way on July 3, 1995. On April 4, 2001 he was united in marriage to the former Phyllis Rinaldi. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his stepdaughters; Doreen A. (Wayne) Wnuk and Linda A. (Greg) Snell all of Amsterdam, and Lucinda A. Padrick of Jupiter, Fla., grandchildren Brandy Taylor, and Justin and Christopher Padrick; sister, Helen Perry of Texas; sisters in law; Agnes Marotta, Grace (Alfred) Palombi and Jennie (Carmen) Riccio all of Amsterdam; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 11 siblings.
