Lady Rams win first swim meet

Kayla Dzikowicz won both the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard breastroke while also taking part in a pair of victorious relays as the Amsterdam High School girls swim team picked up its first dual meet win of the year Tuesday, beating Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 101-65 at Lynch Literacy Academy.

Conti teamed with Justine Youngs, Mary Wozniak and Guiliana Pritchard to open the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay, then joined Youngs, Wozniak and Mianna Conti to win the 400 freestyle relay that closed out the win.

Conti added a victory for Amsterdam in the 50 freestyle and finished second in the 100 free, Youngs was first in the 100 butterfly and second in the 200 individual medley and Wozniak took home a win in the 200 freestyle.

Amsterdam got a third relay victory from Pritchard, Marissa Farina, Amea Hammonds and Ashley Adair in the 200 freestyle relay.

Savannah Hotaling won the 100 backstroke and 200 IM to lead Ravena, which also got a victory from Casey Young in the 100 free.

BOYS SOCCER

Big 10

Amsterdam 2, Catholic Central 0

Connor Kilgallen ended a scoreless tie scoring in the second half on an assist from Nick Caruso to give Amsterdam a victory over Catholic Central.

Taliq Sims had the second Amsterdam goal, courtesy of a cross from Anthony Stewart.

Standouts on defense for Amsterdam were Andrew Disalvi and Harpreet Singh.

Amsterdam travels to LaSalle on Thursday.

Foothills Council

Broadalbin-Perth 7, Queensbury 1

Ben Bellandi led the way with two goals and three assists as the Patriots romped to a road win over Queensbury.

Joe Zarecki also scored twice for B-P (8-2-1, 6-1-1 Foothills), while Tucker Wilcox and Justin Marek each provided a goal and an assist. Francesco Mastrocinque rounded out the scoring for the Patriots, with A.J. Klemczak and Logan Ackley also contributing assists.

Matt Myers made five saves to record the win for B-P, which outshout Queensbury 21-10.

Kade Kirby's goal with six seconds left in the game prevented the shutout for the Spartans, who got six stops from keeper Patrick O'Mara.

CROSS COUNTRY

Colonial Council Crossover Invitational

Fonda-Fultonville got first-place finishes from both Jamie Kasza and Matt Hoffman as its boys and girls teams each won championships over the 2.6-mile course at Cohoes High School.

Kaszia led the Lady Braves' victory, with Kimberly Genti in second, Samantha Phelps in fourth, Carly Littlejohn in 12th and Katie Wisniewski in 21st. Fonda-Fultonville finished with 40 team points, 14 better than runner-up Cobleskill-Richmondville.

Hoffman's victory in 13 minutes, three seconds paced the F-F boys finished with 37 team points, 26 in front of second-place Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk. Tyler Angioli was third for the Braves, with Jimmy Westman in fifth, Cameron Gilligan in 12th and Dalton Hunter in 16th rounding out the scoring for the team.

Western Athletic Conference

Duanesburg 24, Canajoharie Fort Plain 32 (Boys)

Canajoharie-Fort Plain's Jordan Ahrens took first over the 3-mile course in 16:38, but Duanesburg had the second, third and fourth-place finishers to pull out a close victory.

Xavier McKinley took second to lead Duanesburg, one second ahead of teammate Pat Murphy.

Duanesburg's Ciara Fisher won the girls race in 20:59, with C-FP not having enough runners to complete team scoring. Quinn Li O'Shea led Canajoharie-Fort Plain by finishing fifth.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Mechanicville 1

Cory Lais served up 11 aces and finished with 21 service points as the Lady Braves notched a 25-12, 25-21, 23-25, 25-12 victory over Mechanicville.

Lais also added five kills, while Sierra Park had five aces among her 18 service points for Fonda-Fultonville (7-5, 6-4 Colonial).

Paige Hansen's five kills and two blocks led Mechanicville in defeat.
