Amsterdam shooting investigated

Amsterdam police are investigating a shooting incident that took place on James Street early Tuesday morning.

According to a news release from Amsterdam Police Department, at approximately 5:45 a.m. that day, police received a report of gunshots being fired on James Street.

Police said no injuries were reported.

The initial reports from witnesses who were interviewed revealed that the residents heard about three to five gunshots being fired.

According to police, witnesses said they also observed two males, running southbound on the street shortly after hearing the gunshots.

A BMW sports utility vehicle was located parked in the lot of Rosito's Bakery on James Street by officers at the scene.

The SUV appeared to have at least, what looked like, four bullet holes in the vehicle.

Detectives searched the scene for an forensic evidence, the release detailed, and the SUV is being analyzed for additional evidence.

Police said the vehicle was parked and unoccupied prior to the shots being fired.

Video surveillance is being located from the area.

According to the release, a witness observed a gray sedan speeding on Milton Avenue and police are trying to determine if it is involved in the James Street incident.

Amsterdam Police Department is asking anyone with information in regards to the incident to contact police and speak with a detective.

Callers will remain anonymous.

Title: crime is up

Amsterdam crime is going up, death, murders and shooting are become more common, this is serious, stop the trash from other areas coming in to the city please???
