CANAJOHARIE -- Jace Fox completed 7-of-14 passes for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns -- both on long completions to Jordan Brownell in the second quarter -- and the Canajoharie defense shut down Whitehall's potent offense to record a 14-7 win Friday night in a Section II Class D crossover game.

Brownell caught three passes for 183 yards, including touchdown passes of 91 and 56 yards to account for the Cougars' (2-0) scoring in the second quarter. Brownell also intercepted Whitehall quarterback Justin Hoagland.

Dillan Veeder caught three passes for 52 yards for Canajoharie, while Zack Ruszowski ran for a team-high 37 yards on five carries. Mike Hartlieb and Sebastian Decrescenzo both recorded sacks for the Cougars.

Brian McLaughlin ran for 52 yards and a touchdown -- a 1-yard score in the fourth quarter -- on 15 carries, while Hoagland was held to 4-of-16 passing for 49 yards and an interception.
