Mayfield group to host fall festival

MAYFIELD -- The Mayfield Community Group will have its annual fall festival Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lot next to Mobil Mart on Route 30. There will be vendors, food, free face painting and pumpkin painting for kids, and Halloween give-a-ways every hour at the community booth. Vendor spaces are available for $5. Call 661-5165 ext. 27 to sign up.

Hagaman planning annual art show

HAGAMAN -- The Hagaman Events Committee is inviting everyone to celebrate the village's art show to be held Oct. 4 and 5 from noon to 4 p.m. at Pawling Hall, 86 Pawling St. Free admission and refreshments. Vote for your favorite art work. This year's judge is Stu Eichel. Sixty local artists will display their talents in seven different mediums.

Anniversary lecture series continues

JOHNSTOWN -- Johnson Hall State Historic Site's Anniversary Lecture Series, this year marking the 240th anniversary of the final Indian Council, death and funeral of Sir William Johnson, continues Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Johnstown High School Lecture Room.

"Alleviating 'that undissembled sorrow:' Ritual and the Two Funerals of Sir William Johnson," will be presented by Robert Wells, former professor of history at Union College and author of Facing the "King of Terrors."
