Richard J. McCune, 85, of McClellan Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Sunday morning August 24, 2014 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam, NY; on August 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Robert and Anna Gaugler McCune.

Richard was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam, class of 1947.

Richard was a United States Navy veteran, serving his country from 1950 to 1954.

He was employed as a sales representative for electronics. In 1965 he moved to Watertown, NY; opening a Lafayette Electronics store. After returning to Amsterdam in 1991, he worked for and retired from the Dining Furniture Center in Albany, NY.

Richard was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam.

Richard is survived by his wife, Marilyn Shannon McCune to whom he married May 15, 1965, two daughters, Diane (Christopher) Eberle of Mayfield, NY and Laurie (Todd) Dockstader of Perth, NY; four grandsons, Brandon and Matthew Colson and Nicholas and Jacob Dockstader, his sister-in-law, Madeline McCune and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard was also predeceased by his sister, Gloria McCune on October 7, 2013 and two brothers, Thomas R. McCune on July 14, 2007 and John R. "Rocky" McCune on July 16, 2013.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Thursday August 28, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.

Interment will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial gifts in Richards name may be made to American Lung Association, 155 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12210.
