Mrs. Edith A. Brown, formerly of St. Johnsville, NY died peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 following a brief illness. She was 93.

A lifelong area resident, Edith was born on February 17, 1921 in the Town of Minden to Demyron and Lucy LaGrange Allen. Mrs. Allen was mostly a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and loved to bake and can. Edith also enjoyed golfing and babysitting her grandchildren and being with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

On September 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Milo H. Brown. They were together 65 years until his passing on February 26, 2011. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Greg Conrad; and her siblings, Peggy Sawchuk, Herbert Allen, George Allen, Marion Lehtonen and Geraldine Skandera.

Survivors include her two daughters, Penny Conrad ( Butch Cranker) and Shirley Brown- Yoran and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Tracy (John)Stadel and Jesse (Staci) Boepple; great grandchildren, Megan, Kelly, Colin and Caleb; siblings, Anderson Allen, June Dunckel, Irene Wiers, Elizabeth Wall and Shirley Estenich; two foster children, David Clemons and Charles Dygert; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service of remembrance will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 1 o'clock at Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, New York.

A calling hour will take place on Sunday prior to the service from 11:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please visit the online guestbook at www.brbsfuneral.com.
