Police still seek info on shooting

Wednesday, August 20, 2014 - Updated: 10:20 AM

Amsterdam police say they are still looking for suspects involved in a shooting Tuesday morning at a Garden Street residence.

According to a witness, there were at least two male suspects seen running from the residence immediately after the shooting.

According to the residents, the suspects spoke English with Hispanic accents, Detective Lt. Kurt J. Conroy said.

Conroy said the APD is currently not releasing the address or any other details. "We're still trying to find a motive before we release any more details," he said.

The APD received a report at approximately 3:45 a.m. Tuesday in which shots were fired in the city.

Conroy said no one was injured during the incident but officers who arrived at the scene determined a male suspect entered the apartment and fired several shots at one of the occupants.

The resident fled the area during the shooting and wasn't struck by any of the numerous bullets fired, police said. Three other occupants of the apartment, also present during the incident, were in another room and were also not injured.

Detective bureau members responded and processed the scene for evidence and canvassed the area for any potential witnesses or video surveillance of the surrounding neighborhood Tuesday morning.

As of Tuesday afternoon, however, Conroy said nothing new had come from the investigation.

The APD is still asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 842-1100.
