Alfreda C. "Freda" Parks

Mrs. Alfreda C. "Freda" Parks, 93, formerly of Kreisel Terrace, Amsterdam, New York passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

A lifelong area resident. She was born September 13, 1920 in Amsterdam, New York a daughter of the late Boleslaw and Josephine Maciejewski Szypling.

She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later graduated from the Amsterdam School of Business.

For many years she was a Secretary at Mohasco Corporation before retiring.

Freda was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and its Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Ladies of Charity.

Mrs. Parks was very fond of the game of golf enjoying the game at the Ballston Spa Country Club and the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course. She enjoyed oil painting and sewing as well.

She was married to Lonnie D. Parks on April 20, 1968. He died January 2, 1987.

She was also predeceased by her siblings, Stephanie (Stella) McNamara, Clara Nabozny, an infant, Joseph Szypling and William Szypling and most recently her cousin, Thomas Nabozny.

She is survived by a niece, Helen Menge, Mayfield, New York and by a nephew, William McNamara, Virginia; cousin, Clarita Goodspeed, Oklahoma.

The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, New York followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church with Rev. Pascal Iannotti, Celebrant.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rosary Society service at 5:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
