Amsterdam Police investigate shooting

Tuesday, August 19, 2014 - Updated: 10:31 AM

The Amsterdam Police Depart-ment was seeking help from the public this morning in the investigation of a shooting at a Garden Street residence at approximately 3:45 a.m. today.

Detective Lt. Kurt J. Conroy said no one was injured during the incident in which a male suspect entered the apartment and fired several shots at one of the occupants.

The resident was able to flee during the shooting, and was not struck by any of the bullets. Three other occupants who were home at the time were in another room in the house and were also not injured, Conroy said.

A witness saw at least two males running from the area immediately after the shooting, Conroy said.

Detective bureau members responded and processed the scene for evidence, and as of this morning were canvassing the area for any potential witnesses or video surveillance of the surrounding neighborhood.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the police department at 842-1100.
