William Raczynski

William Raczynski, 97, of Route 30 Town of Perth, died Sunday August 17, 2014 at home.

He was born in Amsterdam on May 27, 1917 a son of William and Julia Tylutki Raczynski and attended school in the Town of Glen. Bill worked on the family farm and later was employed at General Electric Co. in Schenectady. He was employed at the Mohawk Carpet Mills, Coleco Industries, and later at Consolidated Novelty Company in Amsterdam, retiring in 1986.

Mr. Raczynski was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church in Amsterdam.

Bill enjoyed vegetable gardening and garage sales.

He was married to Lottie Lesczynski Raczynski on May 27, 1951. She died April 20, 1991. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Andrew, Anthony, John, and Peter Raczynski; and two sisters, Josie Roberts and Katherine Rasalas.

Survivors include two sisters, Anna Raczynski of Amsterdam and Mary Gawlak of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Stanislaus Church Cornell Street Amsterdam with Rev. Carl Urban.

Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 8:00- 9:15 am at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, in care of the funeral home.
