Louise M. Hirschfeld

Louise M. Hirschfeld, 94, former resident of Broadway Extension, Amsterdam passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 16, 2014 at the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F. where she has resided for the past five years.

Born June 30, 1920 in the Town of Florida, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Edith Wilkins Lohmeyer. She was a 1936 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Louise was employed for a short time for the former Lurie's Department Store after graduating from high school. She was a homemaker and attended Family Bible Church on Thayer Road for many years.

She was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading the Bible and memorizing scriptures. She also enjoyed caring for her dogs and cats and going for long rides in the country. Louise was a very giving and compassionate person.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Larry) Decker of Pattersonville, Joan (Jack) Whitford of Illinois and Pamela (Jay) Stillinger of Burnt Hills; five grandchildren, Alan, Erika, Jessamyn, Megan, Jake, and six great grandchildren. Louise was predeceased by a grandson Scott Decker in 1989.

The family would like to thank the staff at Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F for their kindness and care of Louise, especially to Keith and Pam.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 19th, at 12 noon at Woestina Reformed Church, 1397 Main street, Rotterdam Junction, NY with the Rev. Kent McHeard and the Rev. Jay Stillinger, son in law, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 11:00A.M. to 12:00 noon at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Louise's memory to Woestina Reformed Church, 1397 Main Street, Rotterdam Junction, NY 12150 or to Abounding Grace Christian Church, 3060 Hamburg Street, Schenectady, NY 12303.
