Car and bike enthusiasts gathered at Shuttleworth Park, Saturday, for Rock the Park, where they displayed their vehicles and passionately discussed them with other.

Cars lined right field while the motorcycles were neatly filed against the dugout and a stage was set up at center field. As men, women and children walked around, looking at cars and bikes, the smell of greasy food and the sound of music filled the air.

Brian Spagnola, President of the Amsterdam Mohawks, said this is the first year they done a concert with a car and bike show.

The two together seemed to be a success as people continued to file in thoughout the afternoon.

“The money goes into a foundation for Shuttleworth Park,” said Spagnola. “It’s used to upgrade the facility.”

There were cars of many makes and models, old and new. One such car was a 1956 Mercury Custom, complete with an eight track player and eight tracks laying on the front seat.

“I’ve had this care for seven years,” said Bill Schwadrow. “There’s not many shows we miss.”

The car and bike show drew many veterans as well as some first timers, such as Christopher Row.

“This is my first year doing this,” he said. “But I’ve been into cars my whole life.”

Roe then launched into a passionate conversation about how he fixed up his 1991 Honda Accord, doing all the work himself. He said he doesn’t let anyone touch his cars.

There were also a few first time motorcycle participants who came to show off their bikes.

Eric Cichy, of Cich’s Bike Night, said this is his first year participating at Rock the Park.

“We do local motorcycle events and were asked to help promote this one, so we did,” said Cichy, who brought along his 2001 Harley.

Saturday’s Rock the Park also featured MMA fighting, a concert and fireworks later that night.
