Diana M. Cary, 54 of Center Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas with her loving family at her bedside.

Born October 1, 1959 in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of Patricia Specht Smith and the late Mark H. Cary, III. She was a lifelong area resident.

Diana graduated of FMCC with an AAS Degree in Information Technology and was a member of the Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa. She later graduated with honors and received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Information Technology from Excelsior College. Most recently Diana received a Master's Degree in Online Instructional Design and Curriculum Development from SUNY of Albany. In addition, she received a Graduate Certification in Online Learning and Teaching Education.

Diana was previously employed by FMCC and for the last 12 years she worked for Excelsior College as the Senior Online Program Assistant and Course Coordinator.

She was of the Roman Catholic Faith.

Diana loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Going to their basketball games and special events was her pride and joy.

Diana was a mother figure to many people over the years. She made everyone she knew feel loved and important. Furthermore, Diana was also an advocate for anyone in need and an amazing humanitarian. As an intellect, colleague, friend and mother, Diana will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include her mother Patricia Specht Smith of Central Bridge; five daughters, Brandie (Jose Gonzalez) Dingman of Fultonville, Jamie (Ray Daley) Dingman of Tribes Hill, Christie (Omar DeJesus) Dingman of Amsterdam, Chelsie (Paul Stemmler) Lewis of Fonda and Jessica Marotta of Fultonville; two brothers, Mark H. (Dawn) Cary, IV of Fonda and Brian Cary of Amsterdam; a sister, Deborah Cary of Fonda; nine grandchildren, LeGena, Jayson, Brandon, Kingston, Princeton, Kensington, Olivia, Omar, Jr. and Jourdan; a great grandson, Za'Kyi; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. Luis Torres officiating.

Interment will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill, NY.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday August 15, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
