Mrs. Janine A. Monforte, RN of Amsterdam died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 8, 2014. She was 61.

A lifelong area resident, Janine was born on March 13, 1953 the daughter of John A. Fabozzi and the late Mary Jane Michaelczak Fabozzi. She graduated from Perth Central School in 1971. She then went on to attend FMCC School of Nursing, graduating in 1986 and later received her CAPA Certification. Janine was employed with St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam for over 30 years until retiring in June of 2014 because of her illness.

Survivors include her dad, John Fabozzi of Florida; her husband, Vincent "Pete" Monforte, whom she married on August 5, 1995; her children, Michael Verkleir and his wife Penny of Texas, Captain Jodi Verkleir and her husband David Culver of Guam; three grandchildren, Amanda, Timothy and Corban; her brother, Ralph Fabozzi and his wife Jill of Florida; step- children, Dawn, Vincent, Stacy and Amy; and her in-law's Harvey and Rose Martel and Dolores Monforte; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janine wished to send a special heartfelt thank you to the Ambulatory Staff, the Recovery Room Staff and Operating Room Staff at St. Mary's Healthcare for the constant outpouring of love and emotional support during her illness; the staff at NYOH of Amsterdam especially Dr. Goslin and the chemo nurses, Amanda, Connie, Julie and Stephanie for their kindness and concern.

A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 6:00p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating.

Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 4:00p.m.

Those wishing to remember Janine in a special way are encouraged to donate in her memory to the Montgomery County SPCA or to the American Cancer Society.
