Tom Calarco will be signing books, "The Search for the Underground Railroad in Upstate New York," at the Book Hound, 16 East Main St. from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. He will also be at the Walter Elwood Museum, 100 Church St., at 3 p.m. as part of their 75th anniversary annual ice cream social. AMSTERDAM

The Riverlink Park concert series, presented by the Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation, continues with a performance by Searson at 7 p.m. down by the river.

AMSTERDAM

The Walter Elwood Museum will present its 75th anniversary ice cream social from noon to sunset at 100 Church St. The event will feature family fun and entertainment including, inflatable rides, games, music and more. BROADALBIN

St. Francis of Northville and St. Joseph's of Broadalbin will serve a steak dinner in the John Paul II Hall at St. Francis Church from 4 to 7 p.m. The dinner will consist of a steak sandwich, baked potato, dessert and beverage for a donation of $10.

FORT HUNTER

Geraldine Buckley will present "Encountering Devils on Horseback & Other True, Hilarious and Inadvertent Adventures" as part of the storytelling series at the Schoharie Crossing Visitor Center at 6 p.m. For more information about this event, call the Visitor Center at 829-7516.

FORT PLAIN

The second annual Standing Strong: River Through Time event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Haslett Park at the intersection of Main and Willett streets. In addition to live music, there will be sporting goods raffles with more than $1,000 in prizes, including a kayak and mountain bike. There will also be a chicken barbecue, hot dogs and French fries, ice cream social and activities for kids, including a dunking booth and bounce house.

The village will host its annual community-wide garage sale.

FULTONVILLE

The Fultonville Reformed Church will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be sandwiches, hot dogs, baked goods, and refreshments. Contact Pam at 853-1099 to arrange times to drop off donations. The church is located at the intersection of Route 30A and 5S.

GALWAY

The annual summer book sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. behind the Galway Public Library. The sale is a fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of the Galway Public Library which raises money for library expenditures that are not included in the general operating budget. Friends of the Library members can start shopping at 8:30 a.m. If you're not a member, you can join at that time for $5 and get a free book. More than 1,000 books are offered, and are handily arranged by category. The Friends will offer a large selection of adult and young adult fiction, non-fiction and children's books in hardcover and paperback. Media such as DVDs, music CDs, vinyl LPs and VHS videos may also be offered. Prices start at 25 cents, and are never more than $1. Hardcover books cost $1, paperbacks are 50 cents, children's books (hard cover and paperback) are 25, cents and media are 50 cents.

HAGAMAN

The village of Hagaman will hold a village-wide garage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call the village office at 843-2480 to place your site on the map. The Hagaman Historical Society will hold a sale inside Pawling Hall. The cost is $15 for a table to rent. For any questions call 843-2480.

St. Stephen's Rosary Society will have a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The society will sell coffee and doughnuts in the morning and hot dogs and soda in the afternoon until 3 p.m.

St. Stephen's Church will have its sixth annual chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. Menu includes half-chicken, salt potatoes, coleslaw, roll, butter, beverage and dessert. Takeout will be available. Cost is $10 per ticket (pre-sale) or $12 at the door. Tickets will be available at all Masses, or you may reserve your ticket by calling the church office at 843-2951.

The First United Methodist Church of Hagaman will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next to the fire house.

HAGAMAN

The All-Galway High School Reunion will be held at Eaton's Pond, across from Bob's Trees, 1227 W. Galway Road, Hagaman. The party starts at 1 p.m. Food will be served at 2 p.m. Galway Alumni Association consists of all former students, teachers and employees of Galway Central School. Any students that attended Galway Central School, any teachers that taught at Galway Central School and any former employees of the school are considered an alumnus.

NORTHVILLE

"Lucia and Levi as: The Little Zippers" will be performing at the Waterfront Park, Main Street, at 6 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network (SVAN). Admission is free at outdoor SVAN music events. Voluntary good-will donations will be gladly accepted. For more information contact Frank Ralbovsky at 863-9149.

ST. JOHNSVILLE

A car, truck and motorcycle show will be held at the Ephratah Recreation Complex, 5228 Route 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit the complex. The cost is $8 per vehicle and $1 per bicycle. AMSTERDAM

The Inman Senior Center, 53 Guy Park Ave., will be hosting a reception to honor Jeannette Stevens-Daury, executive director of the center, from 2 to 4 p.m. She is leaving her post after ten years of dedicated service to take up residence in the south. Presentations will be held at 3 p.m. Anyone associated with her, or the Inman Center, is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

AMSTERDAM

St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 24 Pine St., is hosting a community picnic following the 10 a.m. worship service. The picnic, sponsored by the church council, will feature hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, and more. Dessert includes cake and make-your-own sundaes.

FULTONVILLE

The village will host its annual community-wide garage sale. The event will include something for everyone.

NELLISTON

There will be a fundraiser at 2 p.m. for the benefit of Dennis Abare Jr., the young boy recently injured in the fire on Center Street in Fort Plain. The benefit will be held at the Canajoharie-Fort Plain Elks Lodge No. 2621, Old Station Road, Nelliston. The event will feature a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, food and events for children. Donated bake sale items are requested.

CRANESVILLE

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department will hold their meeting at the fire house at 7 p.m.

FORT PLAIN

Fort Plain Senior Center is hosting a Raquette Lake boat trip and luncheon cruise departing at 7 a.m. from the senior center. Cost is $30 a person. Call 993-3432.

Living with Loss is a bereavement support group for anyone who has lost a loved one. The group will meet at 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Healthcare Board Room, 427 Guy Park Ave. It is facilitated by a bereavement counselor, offered free of charge. Together everyone will find comfort, seek solutions, share experiences and discover strengths. TOWN OF AMSTERDAM

A free movie night will be held at the Sanford Stud Farm, 4995 Route 30. The movie is Secretariat. The movie begins at dusk. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket. The rain date is Wednesday, Aug. 13. The event is courtesy of the Friends of Sanford Stud Farm.

BROADALBIN

Bradley Strait, the new building leader and dean of students at The Learning Community at Broadalbin-Perth, will host a meet-and-greet with families from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the TLC media center. Strait will read a story with children, complete a related activity, and take time to talk with parents and answer any questions they may have about the upcoming school year during the event. All families of students entering pre-K through grade 2 in the fall are welcome to attend.
