David J. "Moundsie" Mound

David J. "Moundsie" Mound, 54, passed away at his home at Schonowee Avenue, Scotia, NY after a short illness.

Born June 21, 1960 in Poughkeepsie, New York, he was the son of Barbara J. Devine Mound and the late Donald J. Mound. David lived most of his life in Amsterdam and was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1978. In 1981 he graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelors Degree of Business and Finance.

David was employed by the Gene Lewis Packing Company in Amsterdam and later he worked for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam.

David was a knowledgeable Civil War buff fan and took part in the Civil War reenactments in Saratoga and Gettysburg. He was also was a sports enthusiast who was a diehard fan of Syracuse University Sports, Yankees Baseball and the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara J. Mound of Amsterdam; a brother Paul D. Mound and his wife Jacqueline of Saratoga Springs; nieces, Kristin (Kyle) Reddon and Heather Mound; a nephew Jeffrey Mound and and great nephew Kalen and great niece Kaileigh; and several cousins.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam with the Rev. William T. Hodgetts, Jr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in David's memory to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 40 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
