Natalie Jankowski

Natalie Jankowski, 97, formerly of First Avenue Broadalbin, entered into eternal life on Sunday morning August 3, 2014 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam.

She was born on August 18, 1916 in Newark, NJ a daughter of Adam and Zofia Grefkowicz Szymczak and attended school in the Town of Providence. Her early married life was spent on the Perth-Galway Road where she and her husband, John, owned a small farm. In 1946, the couple moved to Broadalbin.

Mrs. Jankowski was an insurance agent and was employed with the Jankowski Insurance Agency in Broadalbin, a firm that was established in 1949 by her husband, John, and is currently operated by a third generation, the couple's grandsons.

Natalie was a devoted communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Broadalbin. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Broderick #1591 as well as a member of the Altar Rosary Society at the church.

Natalie enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and took great pride in sharing the harvest with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and golf, and achieved a hole-in-one twice. Natalie also enjoyed playing cards with friends. Her family was important to her and she delighted in their achievements.

She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Szymczak, and two sisters, Mary Kaczmarczyk and Stella Podolski.

Survivors include her husband, John W. Jankowski, whom she married on June 30, 1940; two sons, William J. (Ginny) Jankowski of Southport, NC and James D. (Diane) Jankowski of Broadalbin; five grandchildren, Teri Landry, John Jankowski, Julie Moore, David and Steven Jankowski; ten great-grandchildren, Meredith, Madeline, John, Jake, Josie, Kara, Chelsea, Josh, Kailey, and Zofia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:15 am at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street) Johnstown followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Joseph's Church 7 North Street Broadalbin with Rev. Thomas Morrette, officiating.

Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Galway.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, in care of the funeral home.
