Stella M. Bazarnicki, 101, passed away on July 28, 2014, in Williamsburg, Virginia after a brief illness.
Stella, a daughter of the late Maria and Marcel Czaplinski, and until recently, was a life-long resident of Amsterdam, N.Y. She was born into a farm family and had two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Czaplinski, both of whom predeceased her. She also has one sister, Frances Domkowski, a current Amsterdam resident. Stella had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Stella was married to Leo P. Bazarnicki who died in 1976.
Prior to her marriage, Stella was employed as a weaver at the former Mohawk Mills. Later, she and Leo were co-proprietors of three former prominent Amsterdam restaurants: Hawaiian Club, Klub Aloha and Brothers Restaurant. An independent woman, Stella enjoyed caring for her family, gardening and maintaining her residence.
Stella is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Bazarnick and Audrey Word, and her husband, James, of Williamsburg, Virginia.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home. A family funeral service will be held at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
