Amelia Syper

Amelia Syper, 91, passed away peacefully Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital.

Born in Hailesboro, NY on August 4, 1922, daughter of the late George and Mary Gomoja Jurkovich, she lived in the Amsterdam area for over fifty years, most recently at the Petoff Gardens in Vails Mills.

Amelia was employed as a caregiver for Dr. and Mrs. Raphael J. McNulty until their passing.

She was a parishioner of the former Church of St. John the Baptist. Amelia's husband, Benny Syper predeceased her, as well as brothers John, Steve, Peter and Michael

She leaves her niece Shirley Johnson of Hillsboro, a nephew Jon J. Furman of Amsterdam; sisters in law Mary Romsiewicz and Virginia Wyzykowski both of Amsterdam; as well as additional nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. Stanislaus J. Swierzowski officiating. There are no calling hours and memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Rd. Amsterdam 12010.

Her care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue.
