Mr. Nicholas P. Boccio

Mr. Nicholas P. Boccio, 88, of the Town of Perth passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2014 after a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 27, 1926 he is the son of the late Joseph and Emanuella Boccio.

Raised in Amsterdam, Nick attended local schools. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy on the USS Springfield. On May 5, 1951, he married Cecilia B. Lewandowski. They shared a union of over 58 years until her passing on September 22, 2009. Nick worked for Mohasco Carpet Mills for 19 years, as well as for General Electric for 27 years as a Machinist, a Prep Diaphragm Finisher and a Leader Inspector for Steam Turbine.

Nick was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, the American Legion and a former member of the Perth Volunteer Fire Dept. He loved going out to dinner with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving daughters, Deborah Giardino of Perth, Patricia Boccio of Decatur, AL and Michele (Tom) Dootz of Feura Bush, NY; grandchildren; Matthew Giardino, Jennifer (Brian) Lemon and Xavier (Aki) Orengo II, Nicole and Stephanie Dootz; great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Christopher and Jun. He is also survived by 3 sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his siblings, Louis, Ralph, Anthony, Frank, Salvatore, Little Nicky, Marion, Margaret, Sister Mary Carmel and Vincenza.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 2pm until 5pm at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY 12010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 9:15am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
