Robert J. Piska

Robert J. Piska, 86, of Regina Lane, Amsterdam, NY died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.

Born on April 10, 1928 in Amsterdam, NY he was the son of William and Anna Kretowicz Piska and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Piska was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by Western Electric Company, and later for AT&T and Verizon retiring in 1986.

Mr. Piska was a member of the former Church of St. John the Baptist in Amsterdam and the Broadalbin American Legion Post 337, Broadalbin, NY.

Mr. Piska was predeceased by his first wife Helen Fuss Piska in April of 1984. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Jaracz Zugzda Piska of Amsterdam, NY; daughters, Kathleen Piska of Amsterdam, NY and Linda (Myron) Ferguson of Middle Grove, New York; step-daughters, Carol (John) Stack of Broadalbin, NY; Janet (Robert) Martuscello and Linda (Bruce) Krohn all of Amsterdam, NY; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

At Mr. Piska's request there will be no funeral services.

The Piska family wishes to extend a special thanks to Peter for his help and to Ed for being a special friend.

Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Leatherstocking Honor Flight, P.O. Box 621, Cobleskill, N.Y. 12043.

Arrangements are by the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Pace, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
